Morning Focus opened by taking a look at the possibly implications of the shock Brexit decision on Ireland.
Gavin spoke first to Eddie Punch of the ICSA, who's from Cratloe. With the Dáil being recalled to discuss the fallout, Gavin was joined in studio by Deputy Pat Breen, Minister for State for Employment and Small Business.
To look at the implications for tourism in Clare, Gavin then sopke to Lahinch Hotelier Former President of the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF), Michael Vaughan.
Morning Focus aired the last in a special Morning Focus series on addiction and its impact on individuals and families.
Producer Fiona McGarry joined Gavin in studio to listen back to some of the stories of addicts and family members. The last interview in the series was with Ellen O'Neal of the Bushy Park Addiction Treatment Centre in Ennis (which can be contacted on 065 6840944).
The Merriman Summer School is an annual highlight of the calendar here in Clare, but it's earlier this year and gets underway on Wednesday (June 29). (The reason for the early start this year is to avoid a clash with the Fleadh in August.)
This year, the school runs from Wednesday to next Saturday (July 2), in glór, Ennis. To accentuate the European dimension, the 2016 School is being organised in partnership with the European Parliament’s Irish office.
As is customary, the Merriman Summer School addresses a range of cultural, political and historical topics. In this year of commemorations the School’s theme, taken from the Easter Proclamation, is ‘Gallant allies in Europe’. Speakers will put the Easter Rising in its international context (the British Empire and the continent of Europe especially) and reflect on Ireland’s relationship with the United Kingdom and the European Union, 100 years after the events of 1916.
Gavin was joined in studio by Dr Brid Quinn, Academic Director of the Merriman Summer School and Department of Politics & Public Administration, UL, and by Liam O'Dochartaigh, Interim Chairperson of Merriman Summer School.
Joining Gavin and Derrick Lynch on the Monday Sports Panel were Jim Madden, Clare FAI delegate and Dion Fanning, Chief Sportswriter at SportsJoe.ie.
Andre Jenkinson of ALA Markets & Events, the company managing casual trading on behalf of the Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann Inis 2016 joined Gavin in studio for this week's Fleadh News.
The show concluded by looking at an event called Next Steps – Possibilities for 18-24 year-olds
Its aim is to reassure 18 to 24 year olds that there are opportunities, and to highlight the different routes and journeys possible through life.
Speakers on the day will include social campaigners, life coaches, councillors and entrepreneurs, each of whom will offer advice and inspiration.
Gavin was joined in studio by Darina Greene, Social Inclusion Co-ordinator with Clare Local Development Company (CLDC).
