Rural crime & the GAA –  Robert Frost Munster GAA Chairman, has called on GAA clubs in the province to support the fight against rural crime.

Email/text scams are going around and Gerry Foley, a Retired Detective Garda and Clodagh Coffey, the Head of Consumer & Digital Communications with the Competition & Consumer Protection Commission spoke about the dangers of these scams. 

 

Eamon Meehan from Trocaire has just returned from Lebannon where he's been meeting families fleeing the war in Syria. He told Gavin all about the hostile situation there in Lebannon. 

 

There was great news for the county this weekend as Donal Og joins Clare Senior Hurling Management Team. Anthony Daly, former Clare Hurling Manager, talked about what Donal Óg may be able to bring to the table.

 

Fionnuala Walshe is a Record-breaking swimmer from Kilrush who set a new Irish record on Thursday, October 15, by swimming the Strait of Gibraltar between Tarifa (Spain) and Cires Point (Morocco) in three hours and 30 minutes. Fionnuala was the first person from Clare to swim the English Channel in 2012 and went on to become the only Irish female to claim a Triple Crown in Marathon Swimming by successfully swimming The English Channel (2012), The Catalina Channel in Southern California (2013) and The Manhattan Island swim (2014).

 

Clare FMs Sean Reily attended the launch of Ennis Fleadh 2016 in Glor last Friday night and spoke to people who are involved in the Fleadh. He also recorded some music which gave a little taste of what Ennis has in store next summer.

 

“Motivate a New You”  – Emotional eating is a big issue that faces both men and women. John Whyte from Motivation Weight Management and Shane O Donohoe of The West County Gym West County spoke about how to combat emotional eating and Shane also spoke about controlling emotions when doing a gym work out. 

 

Sally Ann's Handmade Bags has been shortlisted for the AIB Start-up Awards 2015 – the National Shortlist will be announced tomorrow (Wednesday) night. Sally Ann is based in Spanish Point and set up her business just over a year ago. She began making bags for herself and her friends then started asking her to make some for them. The business branched out from there.

 

Sean Hehir was the first Irish man home in the annual Dublin City Marathon. His time was 2:19:47 which made him 9th place overall.
