On today’s edition of the show Máire was joined in studio by Brian McManus,Youth Worker with Clare Youth Service, Kathleen McNamara from Loughraney Youth Club and Gina Halpin from Youth Work Ireland. Youth Work Ireland week takes place this week – it kicked off nationwide on Friday the 4th and runs until Sunday 13th with a vast array of events planned in Clare and beyond. Clare Youth Service have themed their events this year to highlight the role of the volunteer. Calling it Hats off to our Volunteers, they are celebrating the relationship and the importance of volunteering with young people to help them reach their full potential. Also as part of the events Paperchainz – an Ennis trio of musicians – Steven Hehir, James Gormley and Corey Hayes are representing Clare in the Irish Youth Music Awards in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday next. You can check out https://www.facebook.com/ClareYouthService for more details.

Mollie Douthit is an MA Art Student at Burren College of Art in Ballyvaughan. She spoke to Máre about why she chose to study in Clareand the inspiration she gets from living in the Burren. NUI Galway and Burren College of Art will launch Surface Tension, the Galway Master of Fine Art Graduate Exhibition on Saturday, 12 April at 5pm. The exhibition, which runs 12-27April in The Gallery at the Burren College of Art, features paintings by Mollie, and drawings and installation work from Collette Egan. Meanwhile – more good news for Mollie as Saatchi Art have announced a new group exhibition, which includes her work – "Continental Shift: Emerging Artists From Saatchi Art," runs at the Saatchi Gallery in London this month. It will feature works by international artists, including several showcased in Saatchi Art's "One-to-Watch" and "Invest in Art" series, which highlight emerging artists of particular note.

Sean Roche from Kilnaboy was also a guest of the show and let us know about the 30th Sonny Murphy Memorial 10 mile Road Race, which takes place on Sunday next – April 13th. Over 500 runners are expected to descend on Kilnaboy at the weekend – it promises to be a family fun event with a 4 mile walk incorporated on the day. Registration will be in the hall next to Kilnaboy National School from 11am on the morning of the run.
