On today’s Afternoon Show Máire Moynahan was joined by Tom Fitzgerald from Clarecastle who has organised a special meeting for all those affected by Parkinson’s diease in the county. The meeting will be held in the west county hotel tonight with a view to setting up a Clare Branch of the Parkinson’s Association of Ireland. Anyone who’s involved with the management of Parkinson’s – be it a patient, carer, friend or family member are welcome to attend.  The event starts at 7.30pm. 

 

John Griffin from Horsecare Ireland spoke to Máire about a special crisis meeting this weekend for all those involved with horse care and breeding.  Anyone interested or involved with horses are welcome to attend a special event this weekend where all equine matters will be highlighted. It’s being held at the Auburn Lodge on Saturday at 7.30 – discussion will focus on passports, welfare, challenges for the breeders and preserving Ireland’s good name on international markets.

 

Martin Kelly from Tuamgraney was also a guest of the show ahead of a special ‘King of the Bog’ DVD, which is being launched this Friday night in Powers, Tulla at 9.30pm.  There will be music, song, craic and Santa, Mrs Claus and some elves arriving between 8 and 9 on the night. This DVD is about footing turf in Tulla bog last Summer in honour of the late Paddy Hanrahan.  All proceeds go to Oncology Ward, Regional Hospital, Limerick and Raheen Day Care Centre. There are ‘strange’ and unexplained phenomena captured during the filming of the DVD! 

 

Catriona Lowry was in studio and reviewed Frozen and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug following their release just in time for Christmas.  She also had showbiz and X Factor news updates for us.

 

Kathleen Cullinan from Ennistymon joined the show aswell as Ennistymon Christmas market takes place on Sunday 15th December – it’s on from 11 to 3pm and there will be a raffle, spot prizes, music and food and of course Santa!
