Joining Mire on today’s programme was Coilin O Scolai, Series Producer of Irish language soap Ros na Run. 'Ros Na Rún' is looking for budding Irish language actors to join their cast. If you have the cúpla focal and a burning ambition to act, then now’s your chance to join the acting family of one of Ireland’s most popular drama series! The team behind Ros na Rún are on the lookout for both male and female actors to stir things up in the rural village, with some dramatic storylines! Auditions will be held on the set of Ros na Rún in Spiddal, Co. Galway on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th April. Fluent Irish is essential for all roles. If you’re interested in auditioning please send a current picture, CV and details to [email protected]

Roisin Dwyer from Hotpress also joined Mire to talk about how the magazine is aiming to unearth the hottest new emerging Irish talent giving one band or solo artist the chance to follow in the footsteps of the giants of rock ’n’ roll by appearing on the cover of Hot Press. The act will get their chance to appear on a Hot Press flip-cover and also be invited to play at a special gig to launch their first ever cover! It all started in 1977 when a Fender-wielding Rory Gallagher graced the very first issue of Hot Press. Appearing on the Hot Press cover has become a rock ’n’ roll milestone for hundreds of Irish acts including U2, The Cranberries, The Script, Kodaline, Villagers and James Vincent McMorrow. To enter, go to www.hotpress.com/thebigbreak and submit an mp3, along with a pic and few sentences as to why they should be on the Hot Press flip cover.

John Sweeney from Clare Sports Partnership also informed us of the annual Summer Series of runs, which kicks off tomorrow evening – from Lee’s Road. There will be 5 x 5k fun runs in the series. The runs will be in Lee’s Road, Lissycasey and Kilnaboy over the months of April, May, June and July. Check out www.claresportspartnership.ie for registration details.
