Johnny Igoe and Mary Egan Producer of the Doonbeg Drama group joined Gavin live in studio to talk about the upcoming 51st West Clare Drama Festival Doonbeg
The West Clare Drama Festival takes place from Saturday the 3rd to Monday the 12th of March at Doonbeg Community Hall with a host of drama groups from around the county and around the country taking part.  Indeed, half of the programme of plays for the festival is being performed by local groups, carrying on the strong tradition of drama in Clare.  In addition, 5 other drama groups from Waterford, Wexford, Tipperary, Cork and Mayo will travel to Doonbeg to compete in the Festival.

Clare FM’s own Stephen McDermott of the 11 to 1 show fame joined us for his weekly film review slot to discuss some of the better new releases hitting our cinema screens this weekend. – First up with his favourite of his reviewed films The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel Stephen persuaded Gavin and all the listeners that this movie was one certainly worth watching. Similar to the style of Love Actually this British comedy with a terrific cast is a quality flick. – Next up saw a less enthusiastic review of Safe House. Entertaining it maybe but if you’re looking for a new unique story line this does not stray too far from your typical action movie script so no great surprises await you!

Hilda Fay is one of the stars of Girls Night, the Musical, which is coming to University Concert Hall, Limerick on March 13th-15th. The play also includes Lorraine Keane (TV star), Sorcha Furlong (Orla in Fair City), Jacinta Whyte (West End Star). Hilda is best known for playing Tracy in Fair City. The show has been touring nationwide since the beginning of February. She told Gavin how she loves coming to Munster to perform and that she has really enjoyed the experience of acting live on stage rather than what she had been used to with Fair City for the last number of years. She believes both sexes and all ages would love the show and that it’s a perfect pick-me-up tonic for any recession sufferers out there.
