Calls have been made for a subcommittee to be established to tackle growing levels of anti-social behaviour in the county town.

It comes in the wake of an incident which took place in the car park of Ennis Train Station last Friday night in which six cars were broken into and their gloveboxes ransacked.

Meanwhile, a recent survey carried out by the Healthy and Positive Ageing Initiative found that one in four women in Clare’s urban areas feel unsafe.

Former Mayor of Ennis and Fine Gael Councillor Johnny Flynn says drastic changes need to be made to “reassure the public” that Ennis is a safe place.
