Clare are into the 2017 Munster Minor Hurling Semi Finals.

They reached the last four thanks to a 1-24 to 0-9 win over Waterford in Cusack Park, with 1-15 of that tally coming in the second half.

Clare played against the breeze in the opening 30 minutes, but led by 0-9 to 0-7 at the break.

They started brightly and were 0-3 to 0-1 ahead after 6 minutes, but two in a row from Waterford tied it up.

The Deise went two clear soon after and maintained that gap as the sides traded scores until the 20th minute.

From here the impressive Keith Whyte put his mark on the game with the Inagh/Kilnamona man getting four first half points from midfield.

After the break it was all Clare, as they dominated the contest and held Waterford to just 0-2, both of which came in the closing 5 minutes.

The goal came from substitute Colin Haugh, with the Ruan man collecting a pass from Rian Considine before blasting to the net.

All bar one of Clare’s starting forwards scored with both midfielders and wing back Diarmuid Ryan getting on the scoresheet along with subs Haugh and Considine.

In all, Clare had 10 different scorers as they advanced to a semi final at the end of June.

Manager Sean Doyle was pleased with how it went.
