Clare Independent TD Claims Rural Planning Regulations Will Cause Public Uprising

A Clare Independent TD believes discrimination in planning decisions based on farm size or “viability” of a farm holding must be tackled and eradicated.

The Rural Independents Group has tabled a motion in the Dáil urging the government to publish new rural planning guidelines and address the huge backlog in An Bord Pleanála.

Meanwhile under the current provisions of Clare’s county development plan, farmers who wish to build a domestic dwelling on lands of 30 acres and below must firstly provide an economic need.
