The Clare man who overcame an extended battle with drug and alcohol abuse to be crowned Mr USA over the weekend, is reminding others struggling with their mental health that there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.

Ennis native Cormac Murphy who currently works as a model and personal trainer in New York, celebrated two years of sobriety in June.

Cormac who’s the son of the legendary late Clare musician Liam Murphy entered the Mr USA competition after his father told him “to go back and chase his dreams”, shortly before he passed away.

Cormac will now go on to represent the USA in the Mr Universe competition later this year and insists everyone has the power to turn their lives around.
