The Government is being urged to ramp up the provision of emergency accommodation for Clare women and children.

Following the establishment of the €1 billion state agency for domestic, sexual and gender-based violence Cuan in January, Kilrush Independent TD Violet-Anne Wynne is calling for family hub and female-emergency accommodation in Clare to be prioritised.

As of the latest figures, 20 families are currently living in emergency accommodation here, and this county is among a number of counties where the Department of Justice is currently working to deliver more refuge spaces.

Deputy Wynne insists vulnerable families shouldn’t have to solely depend on the kindness of loved ones.
