A Clare TD whose been nominated to chair a new Oireachtas Committee on Drug Use insists serious weight must be given to the concerns of policing and medical experts.
The committee will consist of fourteen TD’s and Senators and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar anticipates it will convene for the first time in early April.
The group is expected to submit a report to government by the final quarter of the year, which will consider the Citizen’s Assembly’s suggestion to adopt a decriminalisation and health led approach to drug use.
Scariff Independent Deputy Michael McNamara has been telling Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan that any recommendations made must result in change for the better.
