Clooney/Quin are into a first Clare Senior Hurling Final for over 70 years.

The men in green and red beat last years runners up Clonlara in an enthralling game, winning by 0-16 to 0-14.

The seeds of victory were sown in the opening half when led by Peter Duggan’s accuracy from the placed ball, they went in at the break 0-9 to 0-7 ahead having played with the breeze.

Midway through the second half, they stretched 0-15 to 0-9 clear, but five in a row from the south east Clare men cut that gap to the minimum with five minutes to play

Duggan then stood over a free from 65 yards out just moments later and landed his 12th point to send his side two clear.

The drama wasn’t finished there as Clonlara were awarded a free on the 20 metre line in the fourth minute of injury time.

Colm Galvin stepped up to hit it, but saw his shot saved and cleared with referee Johnny Healy blowing the full time whistle to spark huge celebrations from the Clooney/Quin supporters.
