Ennis Haulier Says New Scheme A Positive As Business Slows

A prominent Ennis haulier says a new scheme to help smaller operators in the industry is a positive move for the year ahead.

Cabinet has approved an 18 million euro scheme for the sector which will see them receive a direct cash-payment per lorry to help with the cost of fuel.

Companies will receive 1200 euro for the first five lorries, 700 euro for vehicles six to twenty, and 200 euro for every vehicle after that.

 

Ennis-based President of the Irish Road Haulage Association Eugene Drennan, of Spa Transport on the Lahinch Road, says businesses relying on construction materials are finding things difficult.
