An Ennis teenager claims he’s still reeling from taking top honours at a prestigious music competition in England at the weekend.

River McGann has been crowned the ‘Fiddler of London’ for 2024 after beating out 10 other finalists at the London Irish Centre in the English capital on Saturday night.

As part of his prize, the 17-year-old, who’s also a member of last year’s Siansa-winning group Binneas, will perform at the Belfast Trad Fest, Ballyshannon Folk Festival and the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil.

River says whether playing on-stage or in his bedroom, music is the greatest joy in his life.
