Fire Crews Deal With Domestic Fire In Shannon

Fire crews have dealt with a domestic fire in Shannon this afternoon.

Emergency services were alerted shortly after 5.00pm to a report of a house fire at Carraig Hill, Ballycasey More in Shannon.

Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Shannon and Ennis stations responded to the incident along with local Gardaí.

On arrival at the at the scene it was quickly established that while the fire occurred in one of two semi-detached homes, smoke had enter the attic of the neighbouring property and could be seen issuing from the roofs of both homes.

The occupants of both houses exited the buildings safely.

The fire service also mobilised a hydraulic platform from Ennis so they could inspect the roof from above. Firefighters later removed sections of roof tiles to expose badly charred timber trusses.

ESB engineers also attended the scene to cut off power to the properties so fire crews could deal with the incident safely. Fire crews left the scene at around 9.00pm.
