A Status Orange thunderstorm & rain warning has been issued for Clare & the rest of the country with immediate effect.
Met Éireann is advising the public to expect very heavy showers producing significant rainfall accumulations over short time periods resulting in possible spot flooding.
The National Forecaster is also warning motorists of very difficult travelling conditions owing to reduced visibility and potential power outages.
The Mid-Level alert will remain in place until 6pm tonight.
