Clare’s County Dog Warden is issuing a renewed warning to owners of restricted breeds.

It follows multiple incidents over the Bank Holiday weekend, including in which a man in Kilrush was treated in hospital for hand injuries after an attack from an unleashed bull-dog.

Elsewhere at a housing estate in the West Clare town, a child ended up sustaining knee injuries after getting chased by another Bulldog which jumped over a residential fence and later had to be surrendered.

County Dog Warden Frankie Coote says shortcomings in control can lead to serious public safety implications.
