The Emergency Department at the region’s main hospital remains extremely busy today.
The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 117 people waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 43 of those in the ED alone.

The overall figure is almost three times higher than the next busiest facility; Sligo University Hospital and comes on a day when 510 admitted patients have been left waiting for beds at hospitals across the country.
