Over 1,500 Clare Homes And Businesses Remain Without Power Following Thunderstorms

Over 1,500 Clare homes and businesses remain without power this morning following thunderstorms overnight. 

Those living in the north of the county have been impacted the most and it’s estimated faults will not be restored in most areas until later this evening.

In North Clare this morning, over 730 people are experiencing power outages.

The affected areas included Ennistymon, Kilshanny, Kilfenora,Crusheen and Lisdoonvarna.

All of those faults were first reported between 2:30 and 6am this morning.

West Clare is the next worst affected area in the county, 531 premises lost electricity there last night.

Those outages are currently being experienced near Miltown Malbay, Labasheeda, Kilmihil,Kildysart Kilkee, Kilrush, Tullycrine, Moyarta and surrounding areas.

In Ennis, 82 premises remain without power, 35 in Clarecastle, 88 in Newmarket and Shannon, 59 in Ballyea and 25 in Connolly.

ESB crews are currently on the ground dealing with all faults reported during the early hours of the morning, and the utility estimates power will be fully restored to the affected areas by 6pm this evening.
