16 Clare schools to benefit from Summer work scheme

The Department of Education has announced that 16 Clare schools are set to benefit from this year’s summer work’s scheme.

Over 40 million euro is to be spent on upgrade works at schools across the country as part of the summer works scheme.

Funds alloctaed to schools under the summer works scheme allow for the carrying out of small and medium scale building works

In announcing 41.2 million euro worth of funding for 453 schools nationwide, Education Minister Ruari Quinn said the scheme will see major improvements in primary and post primary schools around the country.

14 primary schools and 2 secondary schools in Clare are among those set to benefit this coming summer

The Department says ‘mechanical works’ will be carried out at Scoil na Maighdine Muire, Newmarket on Fergus,  Annagh National School in Miltown Malbay, Scoil na Mhainstir Cuinche, Quin, Scoil na Maighdine Muire, Broadford, Burrane National School and St Joseph’s Community College, Kilrush and Ennis Community College.

Electrical works will also be carried out at St. Tola’s, Shannon, at the national schools of New Quay, Parteen, O’Callaghans Mills, Cooraclare and Kilnaboy as well as the boys school in Killaloe, Clonigulane Natinoal School in Kilmihil and Rockmount Mixed National School in Miltown Malbay.

The Planning and Building Unit in the Department will be in contact shortly with all schools approved for grant aid under this year’s Summer Works Scheme with further details and instructions on how to proceed.
