A North Clare man is hailing the Christmas miracle of a life-saving organ donation.
57 Year-Old John McMahon from Corofin has faced his fair share of challenges, having lost his left arm in a serious road traffic collision in 1982.
Then in 2019, John was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, which restricted his ability to breathe and walk and following complications this August, he was told that he might not survive the weekend.

Just days later, a lung transplant became available for John and before entering theatre, he was told once again that he had a 50/50 chance of survival.
He says the selfless generosity of one man and his family is the reason he’s here today.
