27% of homes in Clare with a BER rating were awarded a D or less.
Figures from the CSO have been released into the energy efficiency of houses across the country.
Of the 1,181 properties in Clare with a BER rating, the majority received a C grade.
329 homes fell into this category – making up 27% of the total number with a rating in the county.
A further 27% of the county’s homes received grades of between D and G.
The lowest energy efficiency rating a property can receive is a F-G and 92 homes in the Banner registered this rating.
Only 7 houses in Clare received the top A1 grade, however 22% of homes with a BER rating in the county were awarded either an A2 or A3.
This is a marked improvement in comparison to a decade ago when only 3 properties received an A3 rating, with none reaching A2 or A1 status.
The county’s energy efficiency rates have improved dramatically since 2012, when 53% of homes registered a D or lower.
