Over 30 Properties Allocated To Clare People On Medical And Disability Grounds In Q2 Of 2023

Clare County Council allocated over thirty properties to households in need of disability friendly accommodation in the second quarter of 2023.

New figures show that between April and May last year, the local authority approved over one million-euro worth of specialist housing grants.

31 properties were allocated to households who had a requirement for social housing under medical grounds in the second quarter of 2023.

This included 16 households who were allocated accommodation for a disability, three for intellectual disabilities, seven for mental health reasons, and a further five who required a social home for sensory needs.

Five of the disabled households to receive an offer of accommodation during this timeframe, where provided with support packages by Clare County Council.

In addition the local authority also approved 52 grants for disabled persons living in private houses between last April and June to a value of €485,343.

As well as this the council provided a further twenty mobility aid grants, 52 older persons grants for private houses and a further 25 disabled persons grants for local authority housing all to a value of €559,994.

This brings Clare County Council’s total funding for medical housing supports in the second quarter of the year to €1,045,337.
