Over 26,500 adverse incidents have been recorded at the UL Hospitals Group’s six facilities since 2018.
New figures released to Aontú show that last year, 6,307 instances relating to slips, trips, falls and mistakes in the course of treatment were reported to ULHG management.
The figure marks a 36% rise in the number of instances reported to ULHG five years ago, while in the same period the group have paid out €92 million in compensation claims.
Aontú MidWest PRO Eric Nelligan believes the state can no longer justify the practice of just one emergency department serving the region.
