A site of almost 2 hectares on the outskirts of Ennis, will be the location for a brand new housing development.

Finn Properties LTD has received the green light from Clare County Council to expand the Maples Housing Estate with 48 additional dwellings.

The proposed houses consist of 4x 1 bed-room apartments, 14x 2-bed units, 26x 3-bed dwellings and 4x 4-bed homes.

Last November, the applicant reached a Part V planning agreement with the local authority, which means at least 5 and as many as 9 of the new builds will become either social or affordable housing.

To complement the new homes, the developer will also provide 94 additional parking spaces in the estate.

Prior to commencing works, the developer is also required to make a contribution of over €266,000 to Clare County Council for facilities and public infrastructure benefitting the homes.

The local authority granted permission subject to 23 conditions.
