51% Jump In Number Of New Homes Being Built In Clare

New figures have revealed that the number of new homes under construction in Clare has risen by 51% in the past 12 months.

A survey by GeoDirectory has shown that as of the end of last month, some 265 new residences were being built across the county, up from 175 in December 2018.

The figures also show that house prices have held steady here over the past decade.

GeoDirectory’s latest report looks at how the residential market across Ireland performed in Quarter 4 of 2019.

Here in Clare, some 265 residential buildings were classed as under construction at the end of December, meaning a healthy number of properties should come on stream this year.

This marks a 51% increase in the space of a year, which is well ahead of the national average of 38%.

In addition, 376 new address points were added to GeoDirectory’s database in 2019.

In terms of property prices, the average home in Clare now fetches €189,113; with the most expensive in Ennis averaging €202,000 and the lowest in Kilrush of €134,000.

Property prices overall held steady in Clare, with just a 1% increase in the average price of a home between 2010 and 2019.

Meanwhile, the residential vacancy rate in Clare now stands at 6.5%; 1.8% higher than the national average of 4.7%.
