Over 600 residential units were granted planning permission in Clare last year.
The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show there was a 42% drop in the number of applications for apartments approved in the county in 2022.
A total of 606 new housing units were given the green light in Clare last year.
This included 580 houses and 26 apartments – just one more property than was granted in 2021.
Last year saw a sharp drop in the number of applications for apartments gaining approval – decreasing by 42% from 45 in 2021 to 26 in 2022.
Clare saw a downward trajectory in the number of number of housing units granted permission last year, with that figure falling on a quarterly basis.
161 houses and apartments received approval in Clare from January to March, before falling to 151 in quarter 2, 144 in quarter 3 and just 130 between October and December at years end.
Permission was also granted for 205 extensions and 99 alterations or conversions to property.
Just ten counties nationwide had a lower approval rating than Clare in 2022.
