The region’s main hospital is once again experiencing a high level of overcrowding as the week begins.

84 people are on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick as of this morning according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, including 49 in the emergency department.

It’s nearly twice the number of the next busiest facility, which is Cork University Hospital where 44 patients are waiting for a bed.

While the number of patients being treated for Covid at UHL continues to fall, the Dooradoyle facility still has the highest number of Covid patients of anywhere in the country as of last night at 57.
