An overwhelming majority of people in the Crusheen catchment area are strongly in favour of re-opening the village’s defunct railway station.

Repucon Consulting has launched the findings of its socio-economic appraisal of the benefits of bringing the rail stop closed to passengers since 1976 back into use.

The analysis conducted on behalf of Clare County Council factored in 1,029 responses from people living in the catchment area – with 92% saying they’d “very strongly” support the station’s reinstatement.

Executive Director of Repucon Consulting, Mark O’Connell, says when it comes to weighing up the pros and cons of the project, “it’s all on the upside”.
