Clare experienced the joint-highest amount of rainfall in the country last month
Met Eireann’s climate statement for March shows that it rained on over 93% of days here during March.
There were 29 rain days – out of a possible 31 in March – at weather stations in Clare and Cavan.
Throughout the month, Shannon’s weather station recorded just over 107 hours of total sunshine.
While a part of Donegal had more than twice the usual amount of rain throughout the month.
Dublin Airport had its third wettest March – only behind last year, and 1947 – while the weather station there also had its wettest day ever recorded.
While a station in Roscommon also had its wettest March day – a record which had stood for 19 years.
Elsewhere, there was a range of temperatures going from -2.7 degrees to more than 16 degrees over the course of the month.
While it remained relatively calm over the month as a number of weather stations didn’t record gale force winds.
