95 On Trolleys At UHL As Services Scaled Back

95 people are on trolleys at the region’s main hospital as of this morning.

Figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show University Hospital Limerick has nearly double the amount of patients waiting for beds than any other facility today.

It follows yesterday’s figure of 118 people waiting for a bed in Dooradoyle, which was the second highest figure recorded such Trolleywatch statistics began in 2006.

Significant reductions in scheduled care are impacting UHL today as a result, with all but ‘the most time critical’ elective activity deferred both today and tomorrow.

Patients affected by the deferrals are to be contacted directly by the UL Hospitals Group.
