Aer Lingus has been accused of showing no interest in selling transatlantic seats from Shannon with claims that current New York and Boston flights are half empty.

The former state airline will suspend its American services from January 5th to March 27th in the new year, insisting the stoppage is due to low demand and is necessary to ensure the long term viability of its transatlantic routes

But Clare County Council has been told that Delta and Continental Flights from Shannon have been booked to capacity recently prompting questions as to why Aer Lingus can’t attract the same business.

Ennis West Councillor James Breen says other airlines have even had standby queues while Aer Lingus complains about poor take up on it seats
