A Clare village may soon see a boost to its housing stock if a proposed development gets the go-ahead.

Clare County Council’s Planning Department has received an application which if approved, would see the construction of almost 60 new homes on the outskirts of Quin village.

The planning application submitted by Ennis construction company Harcon Contractors Limited on August 29th is for a residential development consisting of 56 units located in Quin Gardens.

The development would be made up of seven detached dwellings, 46 semi-detached homes and three terrace houses.

If approved, it’s stated the construction of a public footpath to the existing road as well ancillary surface car parking would be required.

The applicant also outlines plans to connect to the existing public water supply and claims it will provide foul water drainage services including surface water attenuation.

Harcon Contractors Limited says vehicular and pedestrian access to the development site would be necessary.

A Natura Impact Statement is included in the application and Clare County Council has until October 23rd to reach a decision on the development – with submissions to be in by September 29th.
