Almost €30,000 in funding has been allocated to prepare conservation plans for three historic Clare churches.
Under this year’s Community Monuments Fund, €11,316 will go towwards the preparation of a conservation report on Kilchreest Churh, while €9,102 will go to plans for both Kilofin and Templemaley Churches.
Once the reports are completed, applications can be made for further funding to implement conservation works such as emergency work, masonry repair, measures to protect the buildings from climate change and work to enable public access to the sites.
The completion of the conservation reports will also allow communities apply for further funding to launch social media campaigns to promote the buildings’ archaeological heritage.
