A total ban on visiting remains in place at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick due to an escalation of the winter vomiting bug.

There are four confirmed cases in four areas of the hospital and strict infection control precautions have been implemented.

Visiting at the hospital is currently permitted only in the case of critically ill patients and parents are only allowed to visit children at the hospital’s Paediatric unit.

Out patient, day care services and routine hospital admissions are not affected, however members of the public will be asked to provide their appointment cards for inspection by security at the hospital.
