Beach goers are urged to stay safe while visiting the county’s coastal sites this weekend.

An increase in visitors to Clare’s beaches are expected this June bank holiday weekend and water safety officers are reminding the public that despite the fine weather – water temperatures remain low.

Life guards will be on patrol at the county’s main beaches – lahinch, fanore, spanish point and kilkee – along with another 8 beaches across Clare.

Water Safety Development Officer with Clare County Council – Liam Griffin – has this advice for anyone venturing to the coast this bank holiday weekend.
