One of Clare’s Government TD’s has admitted the decision to close eight of the county’s Garda Stations is ‘disappointing’ but Fine Gael’s Pat Breen has defended the budgetary decision, insisting it will lead to a more efficient policing force.

Garda stations in Quin, Inagh, Lahinch, Broadford, Mountshannon, Doonbeg, Kilmihil and Labasheeda are set to be among the 100 stations nationwide which will close their doors next year.  It’s also been announced that the current number of 4 Garda Districts in the Clare Garda Division will fall to 2.

Deputy Breen is optimistic that the changes will benefit the force.
