Burglary In Clare Soars By 50%

Burglary in Clare is continuing unabated with a 50% jump recorded in the last year.

New data from the Central Statistics Office shows theft and public order remain the most persistent areas of criminality in this county.

212 incidents in the category of ‘theft and related offences’ were recorded at Clare Garda Stations from January and March which indicates a rise of 10% in a year.

Of these, 105 were thefts from shops, 82 were other thefts such as the handling of stolen property, 23 related to the unauthorised taking of a vehicle and two were thefts from a person.

Public order offences have seen a year-on-year increase of 11% with 100 recorded in Clare in the first three months of the year.

The most alarming rise has been seen in the area of burglary as 69 such incidents were logged in this county in the first quarter of the year – up 54% on the 45 which took place across the same period in 2023.

Non-aggravated burglary accounted for the majority of these as just one aggravated burglary was recorded by Clare GardaĆ­.
