Calls are being made for a firm timeline to be put in place for the reopening of the Killaloe Citizens Information Centre.
The service closed unexpectedly in recent days, a move which the North Munster Citizens Information Service says is only temporary and there are no plans for a permanent closure.
Despite this reassurance, locals in Killaloe and the surrounding areas are concerned it may lead to a more permanent shut down and dozens have signed a petition calling for the service to resume as a priority.
NMCIS says short-term closures are necessitated by unexpected sick leave and that the situation will be monitored on a weekly basis but Clonlara woman Gerardine Quinlivan, who is one of those who has availed of the service, wants more clarity:
Statement from NMCIS
Employee leave information is confidential but staffing levels are assessed on a weekly basis.
As stated, there is no plan to reduce existing services in Clare but unexpected sick leave can impact services temporarily.
