A West Clare Sinn Féin local election hopeful is calling for a three-year rent freeze and tax relief for renters across this county.
Violet-Anne Wynne also wants social clauses brought in for all public housing contracts, which would oblige contractors to recruit a quota of long-term unemployed and guarantee proper wages.

It comes amid ongoing worry in the rental sector, with just six of the 11 properties currently for rent in the county town alone under the €1,000 mark.
Ms Wynne says the level of uncertainty in the rental market is causing huge distress for households across the county.
