Calls for government action after closure of west Clare childcare services

The Children’s Minister is being called on to take immediate action following the closure of the West Clare Early Years Centres.

400 families have been left without childcare services on Monday morning and 53 jobs have been lost as a result of the closures in Kilrush, Kilkee, Lissycasey, Kilmihil and Kildysart.

Workers were informed by text yesterday following a meeting of the company’s Board of Management.

An emergency meeting will take place at Kilrush Community Centre on Monday calling for the restoration of childcare services and the prevention of a similar situation arising in the future.
