CAO applications have hit a record high this year – 73 thousand and 63 applied before the end of Saturday’s deadline.
It comes as a new report from the Department of Education shows that more than 90% of Irish students stay in school to complete the Leaving Cert – among the highest in the EU.
The figures are based on students who started first year in 2007, and show an increase of 8%, over students who began secondary school in 1997.
