The Chair of Clare County Council’s housing committee is describing plans to demolish houses on Francis Street in favour of a temporary car park as ludicrous.
It comes as demonstrators are set to march on Áras Chontae An Chlair from 1pm this afternoon to highlight their concerns over the proposed levelling of the homes.

Independent Councillor Gerry Flynn is set to bring a motion before the next meeting of the Local Authority seeking the protection of the Francis Street site for future housing development.
He says all potential dwellings need to be protected in the eye of a housing storm.
