A Shannon-based author has made the shortlist for the most valuable annual literary award.
The Spinning Heart by Donal Ryan, a Tipperary native who works in Clare, focuses on rural life in recession-hit Ireland, and has already been long-listed for the Man Booker Prize, amongst other prizes.
It's now one of ten novels nominated for the 2014 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award which is worth €100,000 to the winner, who will be selected in June.
