Clare will be awash with green today as thousands of people celebrate La Feile Padraig at nearly half a dozen parades around the county.

Events are being held at Kilrush, Kilkee, Kilfenora, Tulla, Miltown Malbay, Gort, Ennistymon, Ennis, Shannon and Doolin with the themes varying from Images of Asia to Reeling in the Years and Life in West Clare.

There will also be plenty of entertainment and music at the various towns and villages while around 200 Saint Patricks in Kilrush will attempt to break not just one but two world records.

The first of the parades got underway at 11 while the last will be held at 4.30 this afternoon in Tulla and motorists are being warned that local restrictions will be in place in all locations.

In Miltown Malbay the focus will be on images of Asia – and organisater Kara Vaughan says a number of very novel floats are set to take part from 3 pm
