A Clare councillor has suggested that land along the M18 be sold back to its original owners to prevent illegal traveller encampments springing up along the route.
The plan from Ruan Councillor Joe Arkins follows on from a number of instances of illegal parking of caravans at Crusheen and Barefield
The Fine Gael representative feels that Galway county council-who were behind compulsory purchase orders for the motorway-should be forced to act on the problem :
