Clare County Council plans to roll out cycling infrastructure on all main access roads into Ennis.
It follows the announcement of a €1.8m Active Travel Scheme on the Tulla Road which will entail traffic calming measures including vertically segregated cycle tracks, shared surfaces, and raised cyclist and pedestrian crossings.
The scheme has received the full support of the Ennis Municipal District and will proceed to the detailed design, procurement, and construction stages.
The Council’s Senior Executive Officer Leonore O’Neill says if the Tulla Road scheme proves successful, it will be extended throughout the county town.
