Clare Developer Insists Government’s Housing Plans Must Reflect “New Reality”

A Clare developer inists that Government plans to tackle the housing crisis must reflect the new reality of the country.

The latest figures from the CSO show 40% fewer houses were sold in July this year, compared to the same month in 2022, with house prices rising marginally over the same period.

In it’s budget submission, the Constuction Industry Federation has warned that Ireland has the fastest growing population in Europe and needs the infrastructure to match.

Ciarán Breen, of Ciarán Breen Construction in Ennis is calling for phased cuts to the VAT rate to stimulate building, Government action on price gouging, as well as a root and branch review of the apprenticeship system.
