Clare’s County Dog Warden is urging owners to heed warning signs and take appropriate steps in dealing with aggressive pets, after a woman was attacked on two separate occasions by the same dog.

The woman was hospitalised after receiving injuries in a first attack by the dog in the Ballybeg area, but decided against action, after receiving reassurances from it’s owner.

The dog subsequently escaped, however, after its owner briefly opened their gate and the animal attacked the woman for a second time, while she was out walking her own dog.

The owner has since surrendered the animal.

County Dog Warden Frankie Coote says it’s imperative that dog owners take appropriate measures, as soon as their pet starts exhibiting dangerous behaviour.
